New Landscape Plan for Idrettsparken, Haugesund
Curve Studio has been commissioned to design a new, cohesive landscape for and around Haugesund Sports Park. The project aims to transform the area into a more attractive, inclusive, and vibrant destination for the city's residents.
Today, the sports park is home to football pitches, an athletics stadium, swimming pool, gymnastics and climbing facilities, volleyball courts, as well as lower and upper secondary schools. The spaces between these facilities are largely open and underutilised, offering limited opportunities for recreation, informal activity, or social interaction. As part of a new toll-funded walking and cycling infrastructure project, new east–west and north–south connections will be established across the site. At the same time, Haugesund Municipality is investing in the creation of a connected park landscape.
Curve Studio will develop a comprehensive landscape plan that links the area's many functions while creating welcoming outdoor spaces for recreation, informal play, and social gathering. The ambition is to transform Haugesund Sports Park into a place where people choose to spend time—whether for sport, education, leisure, or simply to enjoy the surroundings.
