Construction Begins on New Cemetery in Loddefjord

This week, work began at the construction site to realize the new memorial grove at Loddefjord Cemetery in Bergen.

The memorial grove will become an important part of the offerings at the cemetery, and we have strived for a design that provides an intimate and site-specific atmosphere, while also creating a clear and cohesive landscape space with high-quality experiential features. The design is based on a simple material palette, where terrain shaping, vegetation, and the reuse of existing stone elements from the site form the key components.

For Curve Studio, the work began with winning an invited design competition in 2022. We have since developed the project further through the various phases, where, in addition to landscape architecture, we have also been responsible for project group leadership and building applications.

We look forward to following this exciting project through the construction phase.
